Welcome to Bighorn Toyota, proudly doing business since 1976. Our dealership is built on a rich history and a commitment to excellence, rooted in the passion and vision of our founder, Dick Zeder. Over the past 50 years, we have evolved into a multigenerational family business dedicated to serving the Glenwood Springs community.
Dick Zeder’s journey began outside of Detroit, inspired by his father, James Zeder, an engineer for Chrysler. After earning an engineering degree and a master’s in business from the University of Michigan, Dick found his calling in the automotive industry. His initial foray into car sales started in Denver, where he worked alongside family friend Jack Brewer, the owner of several auto dealerships. It was during this time that Dick realized his dream of owning a business.
In the early days of Toyota as a burgeoning brand, Dick seized the opportunity to establish Bighorn Motors in Glenwood Springs. Encouraged by a business acquaintance who believed in Toyota's potential, he made the transformative decision to invest in the brand. The dealership flourished, becoming synonymous with quality and service in the region, particularly as the market shifted towards reliable and energy-efficient vehicles.
Over the decades, Bighorn Toyota has expanded its offerings, including a successful stint with the Saab brand from 1981 to 1997. Today, we proudly represent Toyota, known for its innovation and a diverse lineup that meets the needs of every customer.
One of our core beliefs is that happy employees lead to satisfied customers. Many of our dedicated staff members have been with us for over 20 years, embodying the principle of caring for both our team and our clientele. Steve Zeder, dealer principal, and Jennifer Rose, now General Manager and part owner, have both been integral to our dealership's success. Jennifer has been with us since 1993, bringing her expertise and dedication to the team.
In 2012, we made a significant move to a newly remodeled dealership building, enhancing our service capacity and allowing us to better serve our growing customer base. Now, we can service 2,000 vehicles a month, quadrupling our previous capacity and expanding our team to over 70 employees.

I needed an oil change/ tire rotation. Booking the appointment was fast. They took my vehicle quickly and had it done in under the quoted time. Everyone was very friendly. I even got to test drive a sub I've been interested in!

I had a ln emergency and I am going on a trip tomorrow. I got there before they opened and Heath took care of me. It ended up not being a big thing but I definitely couldn’t drive my Prius without this fix. Heath ( I hope I have his name right) was very kind. I was very pleased he was my service person. The biggest surprise was they sent me a video of my car in the service bay. I was actually shown what they did. Thank you Bighorn Toyota!

Worth the drive! Recently purchased a car here although we are from the Denver area..we had been searching for a vehicle for months and were finally able to find it at Bighorn and they worked with us remotely for the sale and trade in of our old vehicle. Worked with Trevor throughout the process and he could not have been more helpful. Highly recommend, everyone made the process easy!

I live in Steamboat Springs and have exhausted almost every Toyota dealership in the state of Colorado and have been so disappointed with terrible service time and time again. Kudos to Trevor in Sales for providing excellent customer service in the lead up to my husband and I possibly buying a Sienna minivan. In high demand and short supply, he remembered that we had called in the past inquiring about a specific build for the XSE line. When another customer changed their mind on one allocated to Bighorn, Trevor called to say he could hold it under our name with a refundable $500 deposit. That was done. Trevor kept us informed as the van moved though production and transport stages. Once arrived, we drove up from the Front Range. Not having seen an XSE in person before, Trevor was patient as we took measurements, answered our questions, and accompanied us on a test drive. He then gave us time alone to think things through after which we decided to discuss price. The conversation ended when we could not agree. No fault of Trevor’s, we just weren’t enthusiastic enough about the van to pay full price. Despite a disappointing outcome, we still recommend Bighorn Toyota and Trevor.

Decisions decisions. We were at a stage in our life when it was time to give up the old Tacoma and purchase something different. I loved that pickup. Bighorn Toyota, specifically Darrell Fenno, responded to my queries quickly with all the details and answers we needed to make a timely, informed decision to buy a new 2024 Tacoma. Darrell empathized with our needs, understood our reluctance and without any pressure, helped us decide. A big financial decision that we had saved for, we feel we got a great product without pressure and fantastic customer service. We both feel the support and service was top notch.
